how amusing
[Hysterical laughter]

You turned out to be unexpectedly interesting. Such a unique gift... and you keep it so dormant.

Isn't there anything you wish to destroy? The fact that you fought against me so well proves you still have some spirit inside of you.

[More laughter broken off by a coughing fit]

...hm... I haven't bled this much in so long...

[ooc: Got in a bad fight with the neighbor, and he was knifed pretty badly and then stabbed Hei and was subsequently electrocuted in return. Fun times all around. Now he's sitting in the hallway where Hei dragged him to and bleeding]

It would seem you got he worse end of something.

I enjoyed it actually. Seeing that man fight ...he still reminds me in many ways of a former comrade.

Comrade?

Someone I fought with long ago, but now he's reduced to nothing but a fool, well deserving of death.

Ah, that familiar feeling.

But the longer he abandons his sword, the more it rusts. Mine has never had its fill of their blood.

I would like to see how this "other Japan" has flourished in the sword. When you are healed, I would like to see exactly how good a fighter you are.

Oh? Do you feel it so necessary of me to prove myself?

This is hardly about you. It's about my curiosity.
[info]oneeyedbeast wrote:

A man who echoes my passion should be fighting for me and not against me, but if you insist on raising your sword against me, I have no choice but to cut you down.

You should wait until the state of your body matches the state of your will before issuing idle words. I vowed to serve no one but myself long ago.

Very well. I will think on it while I heal.

Something I wish to destroy? Perhaps - however, the question is whether vengeance is feasible rational.

...Do not tell me you take pleasure in lying wounded.

It isn't rational but sometimes it's necessary to quel one's inner demons.

Even though vengeance can easily become one's downfall? A petty emotion, but I've too followed.

...Though, I must admit that our fight was satisfyingly invigorating. Curses aside, the City becomes monotonous quickly.
[info]oneeyedbeast wrote:

Then don't surrender yourself to the city's monotony. Pave your own path and follow it through, even if its one drenched in blood.

It's not my style to cause a ruckus, especially not in a place were even small actions can be blown out of proportion.

There's nothing I desire to fight for in this City, at home - yes, but here there is no reason. Strange as it may be, maybe I should thank you for giving me a reason, as short as it was.

And what if I were to give you more? All the strong opponents you could desire. There are men of this city who deserve to be awakened. They've lived too long in their illusion of comfort that they've forgotten the war still looms above their heads.
[info]contractorly wrote:

You've got me wrong, Takasugi. I don't fight for the sake of fighting, there must be a substantial reason. Like yesterday, my reason for fighting you was to quell my boredom.

There's no benefit in rousing the City, especially not if driven by petty emotions.
[info]oneeyedbeast wrote:

Fight for the sake of avoiding this boredom, then. Think of the banality the next few nights will provide you without a weapon in hand. I can at least direct you to a few interesting targets.

Close your eyes and let me guide your hand.
[info]contractorly wrote:

Perhaps for the future then, but as I've said before, I don't require a slaughter to sate my boredom

Tell me -- Have you heard of the term 'Contractor?'
[info]oneeyedbeast wrote:
Apr. 5th, 2008 12:36 am (UTC)
I suppose you'll supplement that question with an explanation. No, I haven't.
[info]contractorly wrote:

In my world, world, 'Contractors' are those that gain powers outside the bounds of an ordinary human. However, they pay the price with most, if not all of their emotions. Without emotions, there's only rationality and benefit, no rash or unwise judgments.

I don't see the benefit in slaughter, nor do I have the proper rational to justify it - the occasional conflict, like ours yesterday, is enough to satisfy.

Do you expect me to pity your circumstances? Do as you please, then. It would be a waste, though, if you didn't use your skill for something meaningful.
[info]contractorly wrote:

Pity? The is the last thing I would desire, I was only giving you reasoning behind why I wouldn't be a fool to kill so recklessly.

I've made use of it enough as an assassin back at home.

[info]contractorly wrote:

It was only a job, not something that I held any emotional attachment to. And as uneventful as things may be now, I've already accomplished my intended goals.
[info]oneeyedbeast wrote:
Apr. 5th, 2008 02:39 am (UTC)
Then what point is there to exist without anything to fight and die for?
[info]contractorly wrote:

You won't get the answer you're looking for from a Contractor, Takasugi.
[info]oneeyedbeast wrote:

[info]contractorly wrote:

We fight to survive, we fight to benefit, but we don't fight to fulfill abstract ideals based on impassioned emotions.

Maybe you have.

I'm not wounded enough to die, but it's been a while since I've had this kind of personal excitement. This city appears to be absent of its warriors.

Ah, but uninjured enough to find your way home, I wonder.

Will you wallow in blood and your taste for it? Kufufu, or should one help you.
[info]oneeyedbeast wrote:

I live next door to my opponent. I could make it fine on my own. Though ...one could say my interest in this city has been renewed by the sight of so much blood.
